Benson, age 95, of Gregory, South Dakota on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. Interment was held in the Wisner City Cemetery, Wisner, NE. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home of Gregory, SD was in charge of arrangements. Ilene Ruth Paege was born on September 19, 1925, the fourth child of Otto F. and Rose A. (Reichmann) Paege, in Wisner, Nebraska. She joined two brothers, Wayne and Lynn, and sister Alice. Ilene attended elementary school and graduated from Wisner High School in 1942. Following graduation, at age 17, Ilene moved to Galesburg, Illinois where she worked in a military defense plant. It was here she met and married Hans Christian Marinus Miller on November 6, 1944, in Clark County Missouri. To this union, three sons were born: Michael Reed, Nelson Larry and Gary Lee Miller. Hans died at an early age and Ilene moved back to Wisner, Nebraska where she met and married Emery Worrell Jr. on May 8, 1953. To this union, a son, Rodney Brian Worrell was born. Emery passed away in 1972, in Wisner. After Emery’s death, Ilene married Dewayne Benson on March 29, 1973, in Wisner, Nebraska. During her time in Wisner, Ilene worked for Albers Chevrolet as a bookkeeper, at the Wisner Public School District as a secretary for many years, at the Wisner Manor as an aide, and at Holman Electric as a store clerk. Dewayne died of a massive heart attack in October 1975. Following her mother’s death in 1979, Ilene moved to Gregory, SD to be near her son Nelson and his family, where she worked at the Gregory Times-Advocate until the age of 80 when she retired. She continued to live independently until January 2019, when she became a resident at Silver Threads Assisted Living Facility. Ilene was a member of the Gregory United Methodist Church. She passed away on November 11, 2020, at the Avera Gregory Hospital in Gregory, South Dakota. Ilene is survived by her son Michael (Beverly) Miller of Alamogordo, NM, son Rodney (Kathy) Worrell of Ainsworth, NE, and daughter-in-law, Sally Miller of Gregory, SD; sister-in-law, Bernice Paege of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Tracy (Fred), Alamogordo, NM; Brent (Angela), Cibolo, TX; Sara (Brian), Gregory, SD; Sonya (Scott), Gregory, SD; Bryan (Jessy) SaPalo, Brazil; Chris (Christy), Norfolk, NE; Kelly (Ryan), Maxwell, NE; 17 great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and friends. Ilene was preceded in death by her parents Otto & Rose Paege, brother Wayne Paege, brother, Lynn Paege, sister, Alice Paege; husbands Hans Miller, Emery Worrell, Jr. and Dewayne O. Benson, and by sons Nelson Miller and Gary Miller.
