Description	:	Imogene K. "Jean" Dessel, age 92, of Harrison, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2012, in Harrison. She was born March 12, 1920, in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Imogene Ellen (Burns) Origer. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Dessel. She was born March 12, 1920, in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Imogene Ellen (Burns) Origer. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Dessel. Jean was the second oldest of ten children. She was united in marriage to James Dessel on August 25, 1941. Shortly after their marriage, James was deployed to Europe in World War II. During the years he was gone, Jean owned and operated a beauty shop. After the war, Jim went into business with his brother operating Dessel Furniture in West Union, Iowa. He retired from the furniture business in 1980, at which time he and Jean moved to Harrison. Jim died less than a year after the move. Jean was an avid bowler while living in Iowa. She also enjoyed golf, which she continued to do in Harrison. She and friends traveled extensively throughout the world. She enjoyed spending time with friends and with family. She was a fabulous homemaker and cook, well known for her delicious pies. Jean is survived by her sons, John Dessel of West Union, Iowa and James Dessel of Omaha, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Janell and Matt McElree, Raymond and Lisa Dessel, and Jim Dessel, Jr.; and several great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by her special Harrison family, her niece and her husband, Mary and Steve Richards; great-niece, Abby Richards; great-nephew, Aaron Richards; and a host of dear friends. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union, Iowa, with Rev. Jim Brockman and Rev. Dle Rausch officiating. Interment is in Mount Calvary Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
