Description	:	Imogene Loseke Grimmer was the daughter of Emma Catherine Luers and Edward Gustav Loseke, and one of six formidable sisters, she was born in Columbus, NE, on December 14, 1921. Raised there on the family's perfect storybook farm, which she held close to her heart, she later lived in New York, Massachusetts and Maine. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, with a Bachelor of Science in 1943. She moved to New York City and worked as a dietician at New York Hospital. Read More	Imogene Loseke Grimmer was the daughter of Emma Catherine Luers and Edward Gustav Loseke, and one of six formidable sisters, she was born in Columbus, NE, on December 14, 1921. Raised there on the family's perfect storybook farm, which she held close to her heart, she later lived in New York, Massachusetts and Maine. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, with a Bachelor of Science in 1943. She moved to New York City and worked as a dietician at New York Hospital. She met and married Dr. George T. Grimmer. They had three children, Anne, John, and Mary, who were later told that they were given such plain names because no one could ever pronounce "Imogene". In the 1960's Mrs. Grimmer earned a Master of Arts in Nutrition from New York University. She was school lunch director in the South Colonie (NY) Schools, and later also in the Lexington (MA) Schools in the 1980s, and was honored there with the first award given for recycling in the schools. She also owned and operated a restaurant in Kennebunk, ME. After retirement, she was a docent at the Portland Museum of Art, Portland, ME. She loved the ocean and lived on the beach with her beloved dogs in Biddeford, ME, for many years. She moved to Garrison, NY, in 2006. She held strong political opinions, was concerned for the downtrodden and supported women's rights. In later years she contributed to humanitarian and animal rights' causes. She was looking forward to voting in the coming election. She also loved classical music, biographies, birds and cows. A spirited and true friend and companion, and a good listener, her beautiful smile and tender heart will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Grimmer is survived by her daughter Anne, of Washington, DC, her son John, of Garrison, NY, her daughter Mary, of NY and ME, her grandson Darius, and two great grandchildren, Isaiah and Delilah, of Portland, OR. She also had numerous nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews, many of whom still reside in Columbus. She was predeceased by her precious sisters.
