Read More	*Ina Jean Macy* Skeels Calef September 28, 1929 - March 12, 2010 * Ina Jean Skeels Calef Grimes - Ina Jean Skeels Calef, 80, of Grimes and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines. She was born on Saturday, September 28, 1929, at Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of John Orville and Ida Bele (sic) [Bell] Crabtree Macy. On June 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leslie Earl Skeels in Topeka, Kansas. Leslie died January 1, 1963. Ina Jean owned and operated Jean's Diner on the west side of Oskaloosa from 1958 until she sold the restaurant in 1970. In April of 1966, she was united in marriage to Marshall Calef at Beacon. Marshall died in 2003. Ina Jean also worked as a cook at William Penn College and Elmhurst Country Club. She then went to school to become a beautician and upon completing beauty school she opened Beacon Boutique in Beacon. In the early 1980's she sold the boutique and moved to Missouri and went back to college. In 1988 she earned her bachelors degree in elementary education. She moved back to Iowa to be near her family, and lastly lived at Grimes. She enjoyed singing and always had a smile on her face. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and the Sweet Adalines. She was also a 4-H leader for 5 years. Her family includes two daughters and their husbands: Shirley and Wesley Blair of Ankeny, and Linda and Chuck Mountain of San Antonio, Texas; two sons: Dennis Skeels of Grimes, and Michael Calef of Wheatland, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 20 great greandchildren; a brother and his wife: Huber and Rose Macy of Wichita, Kansas, and Glenda and Delbert Boman of Neosho, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her two husbands, Ina Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Pauline Fisher and Avanell Drake; and five brothers: Dalton, Earl, Dale, Gary, and Jr. Macy. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Brother Jeremy Smith officiating. As was her wish her body has been cremated. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Forest Cemetery at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family will be at the funeral chapel on Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. until service time to greet friends and relatives.
