Description	:	Ina Smith, 82, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Reverend Greg Gabriel of St. John's American Lutheran Church will officiate. Read More	Ina Smith, 82, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Ina Mae Mannetter was born August 25, 1930, on a farm several miles southwest of Hubbard, Iowa, to Art and Dorothy (Slutter) Mannetter. She graduated from Hubbard High School in 1948. She attended Western Union College for one year and then worked as a secretary for the college president. While working at Western Union she met and fell in love with Ron Smith. In November of 1952 they were married at Salem Evangelical Church in Hubbard. Ron was in the US Air Force, so they lived at his base in Louisiana, where she worked for Goodyear Tire. After Ron's discharge, Ron and Ina moved back to Le Mars, were Ron worked for and then bought Vollmar's Shoes. When her daughters got older, Ina started working for Becker Tax Service. She eventually bought the business and operated it until 1981, when she sold the business to her daughter, Sue Betsworth. Ron and Ina were blessed with 2 wonderful daughters, Sharon (Smith) Cargin and Susan (Smith) Betsworth. Life was good. Ron was an outdoorsman and gardener, and Ina was a wonderful homemaker and mother. In the mid-1970s the couple started to spend their summers at Lake Winnebigosish, MN, where they developed many lifelong and wonderful friendships. They bought a cabin just a short walk away from Judd's Resort, and they spent many wonderful summers with the pine trees at their back door and the lake out their front door. Family was always welcome to stay with them and enjoy the lake. Crusty old fishermen, unusual neighbors, bears, hummingbirds, and wonderful people were all part of living by the lake. Ina enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, embroidering hand towels, collecting, and photography. Ina's mother was a school teacher who nurtured a love of reading in her children. Ina enjoyed reading immensely, and her mother's passion for reading has been passed on to the next generations. Ina is survived by her husband, Ron; their two daughters, Sharon Cargin and her husband Richard, and Susan Betsworth, all of Le Mars; seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, Luke Cargin and his wife Stefanie and their children Emily and Isaac of Le Mars, Levi Cargin and his wife Libby of Le Mars, Timothy Cargin of Sheldon, IA, Sarah Cargin of Le Mars, Jacob Betsworth and his wife Lindsey and their son Vincent of Omaha, NE, Harold Betsworth and his wife Kala, who is currently serving in the US Marine Corps in North Carolina, and Anna Bertrand and her husband Joel of Merrill, IA; a son-in-law, Paul Betsworth of Westfield, IA; a sister, Mavis and her husband Clive Cook of Cedar Falls, IA; a brother, Dean Mannetter of Newton, IA; and two sisters-in-law, Bev Kowalke and her husband Junior, and Janice Gaul and her husband Richard, all of Le Mars. Ina was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Dorothy Mannetter of Hubbard, IA; and a brother-in-law, Ray Smith.
