Description	:	Old Settler Passes On Ind Weber, who has been in failing health for the past several years, passed away at his home in Sterling, September 18, 1935 at 4:20 a.m. He had been bedfast for the past five weeks suffering from the last stages of diabetes. Read More	Old Settler Passes On Ind Weber, who has been in failing health for the past several years, passed away at his home in Sterling, September 18, 1935 at 4:20 a.m. He had been bedfast for the past five weeks suffering from the last stages of diabetes. Mr. Weber was born on Dec. 24, 1859 in Nemaha County and came to Johnson County in 1862. The family settled west of Sterling where he spent the greater part of his life. He received his early education in the West Sterling school and engaged in farming for his life work. On March 11, 1884 he was married to Dora Gerding, who survives and eight children blessed this union. Seven children survive, who were at the bedside of their father when he passed away. The children are Frank of Battle Mountain, Nevada; George of Chivington, Colo.; Mrs. Edith Nelson of Eads, Colo.; Harry of Sterling; Wm. of Eads, Colo.; Alvin, of Ogden, Kansas and Otto of Sterling. He is survived by 3 grandchildren. The first church services held in this community were held in his father's log house. He himself was baptized in youth in the Methodist church. He suffered the hardships and experiences with the Indians that the early pioneers had to submit to, coming to Nebraska during the Civil War period. He was one of the oldest residents of the county. Funeral services will be held Friday Sept. 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church with Rev. J. A. Runnels officiating. Interment will be made in the Sterling cemetery.
