Description	:	Inda Calkins (LaFlam) of St. Johnsbury passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at the age of 95. She was born in Danville April 16, 1917, the daughter of Luther J. and Nellie (Gray) Hovey. She attended elementary schools in Glover and graduated from Barton Academy in 1936. On Feb. 25, 1939 she was united in marriage to Elson M. Calkins of Westmore. To this union were born two children, Lanny and Linda. She was predeceased by her husband in 1964. In 1966 she married Dean E. LaFlam who passed away in 1992. Her son Lanny passed away... Read More	Inda Calkins (LaFlam) of St. Johnsbury passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at the age of 95. She was born in Danville April 16, 1917, the daughter of Luther J. and Nellie (Gray) Hovey. She attended elementary schools in Glover and graduated from Barton Academy in 1936. On Feb. 25, 1939 she was united in marriage to Elson M. Calkins of Westmore. To this union were born two children, Lanny and Linda. She was predeceased by her husband in 1964. In 1966 she married Dean E. LaFlam who passed away in 1992. Her son Lanny passed away in 1997. Inda enjoyed making a home for her family and then went to work. She worked for Central Vermont Public Service as a clerk, later working for CVPS in the Newport-Derby area. Inda loved music and enjoyed playing the piano for her own amusement and to entertain others. She was the pianist for the Portland St. Minstrel Shows for several years and took great pride in entertaining the residents of nursing homes. In 1976 she retired as an assistant ombudsman and senior companion. She participated in the choir at North Congregational Church, and was also active in the St. Johnsbury Women's Club. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Roy and her husband Paul of Winthrop MA; daughter-in-law Judith Calkins of Spokane WA; her grandchildren: Steven and Margaret Roy of Marblehead MA, Amy and John Olevitz of Winthrop MA, Lanny Jr. and Debra Calkins of Spokane WA, Deborah and Raymond Tsuchida of Salt Lake City UT, Holly and Darrell Genest of Seattle WA; as well as all her great-grandchildren and two nieces. She is also survived by a step-son Lee LaFlam and his wife Beth, and their children Penny, Michael, and Steven. (Obtained from Sayles Funeral Home)
