A Funeral Mass was held on Monday April 17, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, Iowa, with final resting at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Inez Gertrude was born October 20, 1910, in Arlington Township, rural Moville, Iowa, to John and Mary (Flynn) Franzen. The family moved west of Correctionville where Inez attended school. She was active in high school playing on the basketball team and graduated from Correctionville High School, Correctionville, Iowa, with the class of 1928. Inez Gertrude was born October 20, 1910, in Arlington Township, rural Moville, Iowa, to John and Mary (Flynn) Franzen. The family moved west of Correctionville where Inez attended school. She was active in high school playing on the basketball team and graduated from Correctionville High School, Correctionville, Iowa, with the class of 1928. She continued her education and became a teacher. She taught school for one year before she married Elmer Henry Groth in Holstein, Iowa, on April 27, 1929. Inez and Elmer farmed first near Cushing, Iowa, and then moved north of Climbing Hill, Iowa, where they farmed and raised their family. In 1961 they moved to Anthon, Iowa. Elmer passed away on November 10, 1975. On June 6, 1981 Inez married Bernard F. Manley. The couple made their home here at Anthon, Iowa, and would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniverary this June. Inez was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon for over 83 years! She was also active during that time with the St. Joseph Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, McNiff Unit #389, of Anthon. She loved baking, cooking, playing cards, square dancing, and talking on the phone. She especially enjoyed her time with her family, which she supported with her love and duties as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother lovingly. She wintered in Texas for over 40 years with both her husbands. She belonged to "The Grandmother's Club" which included four ladies who for 40 years, got together and shared in each others lives and families. Inez was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Elmer Groth, one grandchild, Curtis Groth, one great grandchild, McKenzie Inez Peters, two sisters, Alice Camarigg and Madge Waggoner, and one infant brother, Bernard. She is survived by her husband, Bernie Manley of Anthon; five sons and their wives, Leo and CoeLeta Groth of Moville,Iowa; Lyle and JoAnn Groth of Climbing Hill, LaVere and Macel Groth of Kansas City, Kansas; John and Bernice Lea Groth of Spearville, Kansas; and Mark and Ruth Groth of Anthon; one daughter and her husband LaDonna and Allen Peters of Osakis, Minnesota; four stepsons and their wives; Bill and Vera Manley of Akron, Iowa; Jack and Pat Manley of Littleton, Colorado; Gene and Carol Manley of South Sioux City, Nebraska; and Don and Jeanette Manley of Ralston, Nebraska; one step daughter Mary Frances Manley of Sioux City, Iowa; 19 grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 35 step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and four step great great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Don Ludvigson, Alfred Groth, and LaVern Groth; and two sisters-in-law, Geneva Bremer and Wilma Groth, along with many nieces and nephews, and many many friends.
