Born on Sept. 16, 1927, in Luke, she was the daughter of the late Candido and Maria (Alvarez) Diaz. In addition to her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Born on Sept. 16, 1927, in Luke, she was the daughter of the late Candido and Maria (Alvarez) Diaz. In addition to her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Niland; and her son, Thomas W. Niland; as well as her brothers, Manual "Jitters" Diaz and Augustine "Augie" Diaz. Inez is survived by her sons, Donald E. Niland and wife, Isabell, of Westernport and Eric M. Niland and wife, Marla, of Ellerslie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Katie (Niland) Shahan and husband, Mike, of Bruceton Mills and Kyle and Joel Niland of Ellerslie. Inez was a homemaker who loved to cook and spend time visiting friends and family. She attended St. Peter's Catholic Church in Westernport and Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont, over the years. Per her request, she was cremated. Friends will be received at Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m. Deacon Harold Bradley will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. The family would like to thank the medical staff at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for the kind and compassionate care given to Inez.
