Description	:	Inez Halverson passed away peacefully at Dow Rummel Village on June 12, 2011 at the age of 99. She was born August 30, 1911 on the family farm 3 miles West of Garretson, SD. She was the daughter of first generation Norwegian Americans, William and Inger Stalheim.Ine attended country school for 3 years before transferring to Garretson schools. She and her sister Martha excelled at high school basketball. Ine graduated from Garretson High School in 1929 and enrolled at Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. After graduation she accepted a position in Clear Lake, SD where she met Vince Halverson. They were married in Spirit Lake, IA on September 2, 1935. They moved to Minneapolis for several years and in 1939 moved to Watertown, SD where Ine worked at the First Federal Savings and Loan. In 1958 they moved to Rapid City. They later moved back to Watertown, then to Pierre where Vince retired in 1975. In 1978 they moved to Madison, WI to be close to their son Ron and his family. Vince passed away in early 1980 and Ine remained in Madison for a year before moving back to Sioux Falls to be near her brother and sister.She liked to golf and bowl, but most of all she loved a good game of bridge. A highlight of her trip to Norway was a visit to the Stalheim family farm and the Stalheim Hotel. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and former member of Our Saviors and St. Marks in Sioux Falls. Ine was a loving wife and mother and will be remembered for her gentle kindness, understanding and good sense of humor. She is survived by two sons. Bruce (Mona) of Nashville, TN and Ron (Joan) of Madison, WI, five grandchildren, Krysten (John) Stamp of Marshallville, OH, Danielle (Mark) Massman of Columbus OH, Andrew Michael Halverson (Kelly) of Westerville, OH, Eric Vincent (Aimee) Halverson of Oregon, WI and Ann Marie (Todd) Christian of San Jose, CA , 13 great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, her bother Oliver, and her sisters, Martha and Edith. Special thanks to the staff at Dow Rummel Village for the excellent care Inez received during her 10 years of residency here.
