Description	:	Inez was born on September 21st, 1926 in Carter Township, Burke County, near Flaxton, ND, the daughter of Clayton and Grace (Morrison) Whitmore. She attended school in Flaxton and graduated from Flaxton High School. While going to school, Inez worked at Victory Café in Flaxton where she would bake and cook meals from scratch. Read More	Inez was born on September 21st, 1926 in Carter Township, Burke County, near Flaxton, ND, the daughter of Clayton and Grace (Morrison) Whitmore. She attended school in Flaxton and graduated from Flaxton High School. While going to school, Inez worked at Victory Café in Flaxton where she would bake and cook meals from scratch. On October 3, 1944, she married Oscar Smith in Plentywood, MT. They lived and ranched on their farm in Lucy Township. Inez loved farm life and being out in the grain and hay fields. She especially loved calving time on the farm. On the farm, they always had company. Inez loved having people over and making sure everyone was well fed. In 1990, they moved to Powers Lake. Oscar passed away in 1999. Inez loved gardening and flowers. She also loved picking juneberries and chock cherries to make homemade jellies and syrup. Cooking, baking, and canning foods were some of her favorite activities. Inez was a member of Holy Cross Church in Powers Lake. Her church was very important to her. She was also an active member of the Ladies Aide and especially the Holy Cross Quilters. She enjoyed the companionship of these ladies so much. After she was no longer able to go to the church Inez would cut blocks and sewed tops at home. Inez was also a member of the Powers Lake American Legion Auxiliary. The organization and the particularly the members themselves were very important to her. Inez passed away at Minot, North Dakota on July 21, 2020. Those most honored to share in her life are her daughter, Robin Smith and her friend Barney of Powers Lake; and nieces and nephews LeAnn (Kelly) Jamison, Linda (Arvid) Eggen, Jim Lee, Hank Peterson, June Enget and Carol Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar Smith; son, William Smith; two infants; and sisters, Evie (Buster) Peterson and Wava (Donald Lee and Dick O’Connor). Inez was a very compassionate and caring person who always put the care of others first. For this reason, she requested that her funeral service be outside at the Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Powers Lake and that people please remember to social distance to protect each other from Covid-19. The service will be on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the Holy Cross Church or the Holy Cross Quilters.
