She was born March 4, 1930, in Frankfurt, Germany, the only child of Wilhelm and Margarete (Haas) Winterbauer. Growing up in Germany, she attended local schools and college before moving to the United States in 1950.On June 30, 1958, she was married to Jack W. Royer in Abilene. All of their married life was spent in Abilene.Jenny was employed by the Farmers National Bank (UMB) for several years as a bank teller before becoming an active partner with her husband in the Royers Clothing Store. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Women of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the Arts Council of Dickinson County, Friends of the Eisenhower Foundation, Dickinson County Historical Society, Memorial Hospital Volunteer Corps, Friends of the Abilene Public Library, American Red Cross, Abilene Country Club, and Hospice of Dickinson County. She had been a past member of Beta Sigma Phi, Business and Professional Women, and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee. She had volunteered for the Red Cross at the Abilene Memorial Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels, and served as a Cub Scout den mother. Survivors Include: Husband Jack W. Royer of Abilene Daughter: Viki Royer Peterson of Lawrence Son: Lance W.T. Royer of Topeka Granddaughter: Vanessa Royer Warren of Lawrence 2 Great-granddaughters: Nathalie & Frederique Chow-Yuen of Lawrence Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephen Haverlauh officiating. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the Abilene Community Foundation Abilene Municipal Band Fund or the Jenny Royer Memorial Fund. They may be left at the church the day of the service or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 758, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
