Read More	Father:Husband to Ingeborg∼ESTEEMED AKRON CITIZEN IS CALLED TO FINAL REWARD Last Rites Held Last Thursday Afternoon For Ingebret Halvorsen A brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of a well-known and esteemed Akron citizen, Ingebret Halvosen, who passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 1, 1939, after about a two weeks' illness, of pneumonia, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 29 days. Ingebret Halversen, son of Ole and Inga Halvorsen, was born September 2, 1862, at Skein, Norway. When a young man he spent three or four years on the sea as a sailor, serving as ship cook. At the age of 18, he decided to seek his fortune in America, and camer to Akron, Iowa, (then Portlandville). He at first made his home with the Charley Olson family, over in Union county, S. D., near Big Springs, and continued to make his residence in this community except for two years spent at Sioux Falls, united in marriage with Miss Ingeborg Nelson, and they settled on a farm in Sioux Falley township, Unio county, northwest of Akron. There came to bless this union two sons and three daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Halvorsen retired from farming in th espring of 1917 and took up their residence in Akron, and he engaged in the automobile business here with W. W. Clark and Ed Stinton from 1918 to 1923. Mrs. Halvorsen preceded her husband in death on April 22, 1922. Mr. halvorsen is survived by two sons, Williamand Fred, of Akron; three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Jacobs and Mrs. Mae Alfs, of Akron, and Mrs. Mabel Lewison, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Johanah Fredrickson and Mrs. Maria Olson, both of Norway; a niece and nephew, Mrs. Jennie Halvorsen during their childhood, and by 11 grandchildren. Mr. Halvorsen, was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Norway at the age of 14 years. He was a kind and devoted husband and father,a loyal and helpful friend and neighbor, and will be genuinely missed and mourned in the community where he had resided as a useful and worthy citizen for so many years. A wide circle of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved children and other near relatives. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 3, at 2:30 p.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran church, Rev. E. G. Svenson officiating. Favorite hymns were sung by a quartet comprised of Mildred Johnson, Lula Claasen, Clifford Johnsonand Arden Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were L. Anfinson, H. Jacobs, Henry Boetger, Edw. Stinton, John Anderson, Gust. Granquist, O. C. Carlson, Chas. Willer. Active Pallbearers were four grandsons, Edsel Aalfs, Darwin Lewison, Milo Jacobs; a cousin, Clifford Oden, and Lynn Arkin. Interment was in Riverside cemetery. Relatives attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lewison and sons, of Sioux Falls; Mrs. James Taggert, Mrs. Gust. Lanpop and Mrs. Tolda Halvorsen, of Sioux City; Mrs. Mike Conway, of Hawarden; Mrs. Carl Oden, of Alcester. Several friends from Sioux Falls and Sioux City were also present.
