Description	:	Mrs. Agnes Steenhoek, 71 years, 3 months and 22 days, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mabel De Jong, Oskaloosa, Iowa, on March 31, 1949. She was a daughter of Leendert Van Rees and Aaltje De Vries. (Her father died in 1880 and her mother was married to Sypko Sypkens in 1881). She was a daughter of Leendert Van Rees and Aaltje De Vries. (Her father died in 1880 and her mother was married to Sypko Sypkens in 1881). Agnes was born on a farm northwest of Pella on December 9, 1877. The past one year and eight months she lived in Oskaloosa. Prior to that she lived in or near Leighton. On March 17, 1897, at Pella, she married Mr. Gerrit Steenhoek and to this union eleven children were born. Gerrit died on August, 5, 1947. Her parents, two infant sons, and one sister and one brother preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her death three sons, Andrew and Walter both of Leighton, Richard of Pella, and six daughters, Mrs. Mabel De Jong of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Peter Vander Wal of Huxley, Mrs. John Plate of Prairie City, Mrs. Gerald Rouw of Rose Hill, Mrs. Brandt van Maanen of Cedar, and Mrs. Harry Vos of Leighton. She also leaves four brothers, Mr. Bastian Van Rees, Andrew Sypkens, Wm. Sypkens, Edward Sypkens, one sister Mrs. Lena Heemstra, thirty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Leighton Christian Reformed Church.
