Description	:	Iola V. Hansen, 99, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Kingston Hill Retirement Home died at the care center Sept 1, 1999, following a brief illness. Burial" Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello at a late date. As per her wishes, her body will be donated to the University of Iowa for anatomical research. Survivors include her daughter Betty Vogel of Monticello, her son Don Hansen and wife Mary of Waterloo, six grandchildren and 12 grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Betty Vogel of Monticello, her son Don Hansen and wife Mary of Waterloo, six grandchildren and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, William Vogel. Iola was born Nov 9, 1899 in Lake Park, Iowa to Henry and Belle Michaelson Flint. She graduated from Lake Park High School in 1917 as valedictorian. Iola won a scholarship and entered Iowa State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Iowa in 1919. In 1921, she received a secondary diploma in business education. She taught 2 years in Jesup High School and one year at Manchester High School. She married Henry G. Hansen, whom she later divorced. Iola worked at Rath packing Co, in Waterloo for 13 years. She became director of St Luke's nurse's residence, including Averill House, retiring in 1973. She was a volunteer for 15 years for the Council on Aging and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.
