Ioma (toots) Burch was born March 25, 1914, near Shambaugh, Iowa, to Norman Fishell and Nina (Finnell) Fishell. She graduated from Clearmont High School as salutatorian. On July 23, 1933, Toots was united in marriage to Maynard Burch. He preceded her in death January 26, 1995. Toots was a receptionist for Dr. Earl Zehr for thirteen years. She also was a school cook for the Braddyville School and also was a cook and waitress for the State Line Cafe, Braddyville, Iowa. Toots was a member of the Clearmont Baptist Church. Toots was a classy lady. She always went out looking like a million bucks, and always in her high heels. Toots loved people and was always ready to go juist about anywhere and try just about anything ...except swimming. She even chased tornadoes with a grandson. Family was the most important thing in the world to Toots. She had an incredible love for her immediate and extended family and all her family loved her the same way. Toots had many interests. She enjoyed playing bridge, crocheting, embroidery, corresponding with friends and family, and especially music. Toots was an accomplished pianist and organist, accompanying her husband and son at many funerals over the years. She led the Braddyville High School band one year when they lost their instructor, even chaperoning them and accompanying them at contest. She played the organ at the Braddyville Horse Show, on only one occasion forgetting she was supposed to be an impartial observer. She had a green thumb, her home was filled with plants and she loved flowers, especially roses. Christmas was a favorite time of the year, she absolutely loved having all her kids around her, opening gifts and having fun. Preceding Toots in death were her parents; husband, Maynard; great grandson, Scott Burch; brother, Lawrence Fishell; sister, Edna Humphrey. Survivors include her son, Gilbert Burch and wife Karon of Braddyville, Iowa; daughter, Chere Horel of Corona, New Mexico; grandchildren; Kevin Burch and wife Penny, Kathy Blanchard and husband Alan, Rodney Clark and wife Kathryn, Terry Clark and wife Michelle; great-grandchildren; Nicholas Burch and fiance Chante, Dustin Blanchard, Jesse Blanchard, Tyler Clark; sister, Thelma Guthrie and husband Kenneth of Clearmont, Missouri; brother, Lewis Fishell and wife Winifred of Clearmont, Missouri.
