Obituary: Seward County Independent, Seward, NE, Wed, August 20, 1958 Ira George Fosler was born on Dec. 2, 1871 at Davis, Ill., the eldest child of George and Helen Wilke Fosler. When he was five the family moved to Nebraska, settling on a farm near Middlecreek and later moving to near Milford, where he grew up. He attended the University of Nebraska and in the 1880's moved to Chicago to engage in the machinist and manufacturing business. He had a factory there for many years and has invented and patented several articles. He was married to Maud Anderson of Chicago in 1899. To this union was born one daughter, Grace, of Chicago. Mr. Fosler came back to Seard about 1930 as head mechanic for Hughes Brothers. Mrs. Fosler passed away in Seward in 1944. In 1947 he married Phoebe Bemis. For the last several years they have resided in Haines City, Florida. She passed away in 1957. Mr. Fosler was a member of the First Methodist Church in Seward and had transferred his membership to the Methodist church in Haines City. Mr. Fosler died on August 9, 1958, in the hospital in Winter Haven, Florida, at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 7 days. He is survived by the daughter, Grace; by three brothers, Orin, Roy and Harry, all of Milford, and by two sisters, Mrs. Clara Fuller of Seward and Mrs. Irene Wolgemuth of Milford. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church at Seward at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, with the Rev. John W. Ekwall in charge. Burial was made in the Seward cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Fosler, Wayne Fosler, Glenn Fosler, Richard Wolgemuth and Marvin Bye.
