RODMAN Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, March 12, for I. Mart Rodman, 81, who passed away at the John McDonald hospital Monday, March 10. He had been a patient there for five weeks. Services were held at the Goettsch funeral home with the Rev. R. V. Gildner in charge. Interment was made at Oakwood. He was born September 10, 1870 at Troy Mills, the son of Albert and Lazena Rodman. When he was six years old, he moved to Monticello with his parents, where they made their home. He was educated at the Monticello public schools and on Dec. 24, 1891, he was married to Mattie M. Bodeker of Monticello, and they made their home here. For many years he carried the occupation as carpenter and contractor. He was interested in civic affairs, being on the city council or many years. He attended the Great Jones County Fair for 71 years. For the past 49 years he had held the position as clerk of the Modern Woodman lodge, resigning his post in January of this year due to ill health. He was the father of five children, three of whom preceded him in death, Grace, Glen, and Harry I. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Bernice, Mrs. Walter Werner of Chicago Heights, Ill., and a son, Alva C, of Springville, and one sister, Mrs. P. H. Schlatter of Decorah. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Pallbearers included his grandsons, Mark, Royal, Lyle and Loren Rodman, Vance Stead, and Robert Wenel.
