Description	:	Melvin Stanfield, 83, of Lake City, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 25, at the Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City. Funeral rites will be held here at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Huffman Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. John McCallem officiating. Zerubabbel Lodge No. 240 A.F. and A.M. of Lake City, of which Mr. Stanfield was a member, will conduct Masonic graveside rites at Cottonwood Cemetery. He was married to Marguerite Eden and they farmed west of Lake City; she died several years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. In addition to Zerubabbel Lodge, he was a member of Za-Ga-Zig Temple of the Shrine, Des Moines; Cryptic Council No. 38, Royal and Select Masters, and of Azgad Commandery No. 63, Knights Templar, at Carroll. Mr. Stanfield is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kay Nichols of Des Moines; a nephew and several cousins. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
