Read More	Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, November 17, 1938 SHAW FUNERAL IS HELD IN HOLYOKE Farmer Dies In Imperial, Nebraska Hospital After Short Illness Funeral services were conducted in Holyoke Sunday afternoon for Ira N. Shaw, farmer and cattle rancher of northeastern Colorado the past 32 years, who died at 11:30 o'clock on Thursday morning in the Imperial, Nebraska hospital following a short illness. The late Mr. Shaw had been in failing health the past two years, but his condition had so improved that his ailment was not considered serious. He was taken ill with the intestinal flu October 16 while in Downing, Missouri, where he and Mrs. Shaw had gone to attend the funeral of her father, John Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw returned to their home October 22. His condition became more critical and he entered the hospital ten days prior to his death. At the time of his death he was 56 years, four months and 13 days. Ira Nathan Shaw, second eldest son of James and Lucinda Shaw, was born June 28, 1882 at Downing in Schuyler County, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Etta Lewis on February 18, 1908, the ceremony having been solemnized at Memphis, Missouri. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Shaw moved to northeaster Colorado and located on the farm which Mr. Shaw had homesteaded the two years previously. They resided on the place since that time, and throughout the past 32 years, Mr. Shaw had been engaged in farming and cattle raising and ranching. In 1922 he united with the Re-Organized Church of Latter Day Saints. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Etta Shaw; two daughters, Willa Elaine, a student at East Denver High School, and Mrs. Verda Wood of Denver; his aged father, James M. Shaw of Wray; one brother, Ross L. Shaw, and one sister, Mrs. Mable Goddard, both of Wray. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one nephew, Lester Shaw. He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers, one sister, and a son, Russell Leon, who died in infancy. The final rites were conducted at the First Baptist Church at 2 o'clock with Rev. J.C. Curtis of Colorado Springs, pastor of the Latter Day Saints church, in charge. Musical numbers were furnished by a quartet composed of C.A. Mowry, Walter H. Rouze, Dr. P.S. Struble and Guy L. Bereman. Burial was made in the Holyoke cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer and Paul Rowe, Avery Kelso, William Hayes and Lloyd and Edgar Groseclose. Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Wood and children and Miss Elaine Shaw of Denver, Miss Lorraine Wheatley and Mrs. Grace Brown of Colorado Springs, and Mrs. Bertie Curtis of Joplin, Missouri.
