Ira Valentine Met Death Near Roseville Early Today. The tragic death of Ira Valentine, aged 28, a Lancaster brakeman on the Pennsylvania (Railway) occurred near Roseville at an early hour today when he was caught between two freight cars in a wreck caused by a freight train sideswiping a cut of cars. He left Lancaster late last evening on the local freight run to Trinway, the train being in charge of Conductor E. C. Bradford of 512 North Maple Street. The accident victim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Commodore Valentine, living near Crawfis Institute, and has been with the Pennsylvania Railway Company for about 10 years. It is reported that he was a member of Co. J. Rainbow Division in the World War. Three cars were destroyed in the wreck, causing the death of Mr. Valentine. An investigation has been started by Railway officials. Besides the parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Fred Littrell of 1116 Eight Avenue, Lancaster, Mrs. Harley Lindsey, of Laurelville and Mrs. J. E. Kost, of Bellefountaine, Ohio, two brothers, David, of Columbus, and Robert, of near Crawfis. The F. E. Smith ambulance, accompanied by the father, left for Roseville at noon today to bring the remains back to Lancaster. The deceased made his home at 165 1-2 Porter Street, Lancaster." From the Lancaster Daily Eagle of Tuesday Evening, December 26, 1926: "Appointed Administrator. Commodore Valentine has been appointed administrator of the estate of Ira Valentine. Bond $3,2000. Personal property valued at $1,600." Estate notice for Ira Valentine from the Lancaster Daily Eagle of Wednesday Evening, September 28, 1927: "ACCOUNT OF VALENTINE ESTATE. Commodore Valentine, administrator of the estate of the late Ira Valentine, has filed first and final account of the same in Probate Court. Total amount chargeable $5,283.24 and credited with the same. Hearing of the said account on the 28th day of October."
