Description	:	Ira W. McAlister, 66, a native and resident of Ferndale his entire life, died Wednesday morning at his home, following a short illness. Mr. McAlister was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Stuart Macklin Post No. 559 of the American Legion, and a member of the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department. McAlister of Fortuna; six brothers, Ross, of Richmond; Charles, of San Mateo; John, of Portland, Ore.; George, of Petrolia; Joseph, of Capetown; and Leland, of Ferndale; six sisters, Mrs. Helen Littlefield, Arcata; Mrs. Bertha Hackett, Ferndale; Mrs. Ruth Adams, Fortuna; Mrs. Ruby Carlson, San Francisco; Mrs. Beatrice Leighton, Pt. Arena; Mrs. Esther Miller, Garberville; and four McAlister grandchildren, Jo Ann, William, Kathleen and Sharon, all of Fortuna. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Citizen's Mortuary, Ferndale, the Rev. Theodore Mendenhall officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Eureka. Graveside services will be under the auspices of the Stuart Macklin Post of the American Legion. Pallbearers will be Elmer Boots, Guy Bjerre, George Becker, Henry Hindley, Robert Christensen and Henry Guglielmina. In addition to Laura's children and George's children, Laura and George had two children from their marriage: Bertha (age 3) and Ruth (age 1). By 1920, Ira and Emma were married and living in Ferndale. Ira's brother, Charles (age 18), was also living with them.
