Description	:	Irena Esther Ruth Jacob was the daughter of Paul and Katherine (Gehm) Jacob. She grew up on her parent's farm south of De Smet, attended the rural grade school near their farm and graduated from De Smet High School. After high school, she worked at several businesses in De Smet until her marriage. She married Earl Brown on September 21, 1946 in De Smet where they lived their entire married life together. Read More	Irena Esther Ruth Jacob was the daughter of Paul and Katherine (Gehm) Jacob. She grew up on her parent's farm south of De Smet, attended the rural grade school near their farm and graduated from De Smet High School. After high school, she worked at several businesses in De Smet until her marriage. She married Earl Brown on September 21, 1946 in De Smet where they lived their entire married life together. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Mathews Lutheran Church, was a member of the American Lutheran Church in De Smet, and was active in the ELCW and circles in the church. She was voted "Mother of the Year" in De Smet several years ago. Survivors include her husband; five sons, Robert, Dennis, Earl, Donald and Ronald, all of De Smet; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Rodney Combs of De Smet, and Cheryl Brown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two step-sons, Ronnie and Roger both of Lake Preston, South Dakota; a step-daughter, Robyn of Denver, Colorado; twenty grandchildren; a great-grandchild; twelve step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a brother, Elmer Jacob of De Smet, South Dakota and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann Richards and Kathryn and Alfred Siver, of De Smet, South Dakota. Irena was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, a sister, a daughter, a son, a step-son and a granddaughter
