Description	:	It is with great sadness that the daughters of Irene Althea Sheaves, 91, of Lunenburg announce her passing on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Watson and Carrie (Knickle) Wagner. Read More	It is with great sadness that the daughters of Irene Althea Sheaves, 91, of Lunenburg announce her passing on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Watson and Carrie (Knickle) Wagner. Irene began her working career with MT & T as a Telephone Operator, went on to work at the Lunenburg Foundry and then retired in the late 80's from Harbour View Haven where she had been employed as a personal care worker. Irene was well known to the area and had many friends. Her outgoing personality found her involved in many organizations including membership in the Lunenburg Jaycettes, the Bluenose Senior Citizens Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lunenburg Fire Department. Irene was also a member of St. John's Anglican Church where in her early years she taught Sunday School and was part of the Ladies Guild. Irene enjoyed being around people and for a number of years operated a boarding house from her home. She also loved a good game of cards with the Bluenose Senior Citizens Club and at one time served as a beauty counselling representative. Among her family she was very special and shared her love freely as a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Irene is survived by her daughters, Heather Irene Smith of Lunenburg and Holly Ann Smith of Cumberland, PEI; chosen son John Spindler of Bridgewater, sisters, Ann Muise, Carrie Agnes Phillips and Marguerite Moss all of Dartmouth, grandson Jonathan (Vickey) Rhodes Corner and great grandson, Nolan and sadly missed by her best friend Rhea Creaser of Lunenburg, many nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her 1st husband, Ernest Napier Smith and her 2nd husband, Jim Sheaves and a sister Joan MacKinnon. Friends are invited to share their memories of Irene with her family on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, and where a service to celebrate Irene's life will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Michael Mitchell, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. Flowers from the immediate family only, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Anglican Church, Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care or to any other charity.
