(Ottumwa, IA) She was born April 12, 1907 in Crawfordsville (IA) to M. C. and Elizabeth M. Maxwell DeLong. She married Roy W. Caviness June 6, 1935. He preceded her in death April 18, 1978. A graduate of Washington High School and Iowa Teachers College, she grew up in Washington and then lived in Adel for 3 years. She moved to Ottumwa in 1943, to Colorado in 1962 and returned to Ottumwa in 1974. She worked with her husband at Union Bus Depot in Ottumwa for 25 years. She was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church and Senior 55 and Over Bowling League. Surviving are two daughters Karen Davis of Henderson, Colo. and Karla Houk of Ottumwa; two sons Kenneth O. Caviness of Steamboat Springs, Colo. and Keith D. Caviness of Ottumwa; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and an infant brother George DeLong. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Stephanie Raphael-Nakos officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Active pallberers will be grandchildren, Doud Davis, David Uehling, Mike Matera, Phil Ross and Nick Uehling. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kriss Uehling, Tonni Matera, Tammi Ross, Ron Houk and Jeff Houk. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Good Samaritan Center, 2035 W. Chester, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
