Description	:	WATERVILLE - Irene Beatrice Ouellette, 96, passed away on Aug.11, 2017 at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville after a long illness. Irene was born on May 16, 1921 in Sanford, the daughter of Andre and Leda (Bernard) Ouellette of Lewiston. She was the third oldest of six children and one of their two daughters and four sons. Irene's first marriage was to Harold Hersey in 1940. They raised two children Carol and Lee prior to Harold's accidental death in 1948. In 1950 Irene married Albert Ouellette of Waterville. Read More	WATERVILLE - Irene Beatrice Ouellette, 96, passed away on Aug.11, 2017 at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville after a long illness. Irene was born on May 16, 1921 in Sanford, the daughter of Andre and Leda (Bernard) Ouellette of Lewiston. She was the third oldest of six children and one of their two daughters and four sons. Irene's first marriage was to Harold Hersey in 1940. They raised two children Carol and Lee prior to Harold's accidental death in 1948. In 1950 Irene married Albert Ouellette of Waterville. They were married for 49 years before Al's passing in 1999. Irene and Al owned Al's Lobster Pound on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville from 1962 to 1973. Irene loved her family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, walking, and crossword puzzles She had a special place in her heart for her beloved cat, Menune of 16 years. She was a companion of great comfort to her. Irene was an active communicant of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Waterville and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Irene was predeceased by her parents; siblings Lionel (Leo), Fernand, Real, Carmen and her son-in-law, Charles Chick. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Chick of Winslow and son, Lee Hersey of Dexter and wife Rachel; her brother, Albert Ouellette of Tolland, Conn. and his wife Germaine, and sister-in-law, Georgette Ouellette of Ellenton, Fla. Irene has five grandchildren Cheryl Chick of Manchester, N.H., Craig Chick of Franklin, N.H. and his wife Leslie, Karen Hersey of Framingham, Mass., Lynn Hersey of Hadley, Mass. and partner Carol Knerr, and Brian Hersey of Cleveland, Ohio and his wife Melissa. She has five great-grandchildren, Avery and Travis Chick of Franklin, N.H., Madison Hersey of Framingham, Mass., Brooklyn Hersey-Knerr of Hadley, Mass., and Kallan Hersey of Cleveland, Ohio. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville. Donations in Irene's memory can be made to: Beacon Hospice, 45 Commerce Drive Suite 12, Augusta, ME 04330.
