She died at her home in Denison, Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the age of seventy- six. Read More	Irene Christina Stone was born in Denison, Iowa, November 9, 1936, the daughter of Warren and Hilda Rath Whited. She died at her home in Denison, Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the age of seventy- six. Irene grew up near Denison and began her formal education in rural schools in the area and the Denison Community High School. After completing her education, she worked at Cronk's Restaurant as a waitress and then as a cook. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Dale Schiltz. The couple was blessed with the birth of four children. The family moved to California and lived there for two years before returning to Denison in 1966. In October of 1981, she was united in marriage to Allan Stone in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. The couple lived there for a short time before moving to Theodosia, Missouri where she owned and operated a Mexican restaurant. In 2008 she returned to Denison where she has remained. In her home time, she enjoyed caring for her house plants and her flower garden. She loved to write children's stories, especially about Barney the Beagle, also poems and enjoyed telling jokes. She could be found relaxing to easy listening music that included songs by Eddie Arnold, Conway Twitty, and Charlie Pride; but when her mood was of a faster pace, she could be found dancing. She was an outdoors lady, and her leisure days found her fishing and camping in the regional lakes and ponds but she enjoyed home time watching western films with her "best friend" Roscoe. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cared for and raised her children, her younger sister, Yolanda and several foster children with a strong will and big heart. She was a good listener when friends and family needed her caring opinions and help. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Delores and her husband, Bob, and Arlene. Survivors include: three sons, Michael and his dear friend, Pam; Dennis and his wife, Sandy; and James and his wife, Robin; one daughter, Susan and her husband, Don; and one foster-son, Dwayne; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are: four sisters, Ruby and her husband, Mike; Judy and her husband, Bill; Donna and her husband, Larry; and Yolanda and her husband, Fred; two brothers, Gale and his wife, Joleen; and Jerry; and one brother-in-law, Red; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held 11 A.M., Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Paul Kelly officiated the service. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for vocalists Kelsey Schiltz and Jordan Schiltz as they sang "Amazing Grace," and for congregational hymns, "On Eagles' Wings," and "In The Garden." Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Kati, Kendra, Kelsey, Joey, Josh, Cory, Jason, Jordan, Emily, Katie, Mitchell, Kyle, and Nicole. The family invited everyone to Irene's home for fellowship and lunch served by the family after the service. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
