Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 14, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday. Irene DeKesel was born August 8, 1920 in Victor, Iowa. After 8th grade she worked as household help. In 1939, she married Leroy Pohlmann of Keystone. They farmed in the Keystone area until Leroy's death in 1951. She moved to Keystone and worked as a cook in the Keystone school for 25 years and then worked part time as a cook at the Keystone Nursing Care Center for 15 years. She had resided at the Care Center for the past three years. She is survived by her two daughters, Paulette (Darold) Sindt of Keystone, Jean (Walt) Hammill of Marion; a sister, Marge (Dick) Haughenbury of Coggon; grandchildren, Derrick (Shelly) Sindt and Daralee (Ron) Schnor of Keystone, John (Krissa) Sindt of Fairfax, Kim Hammill and fiancé, Matt of Bernard, and Rob Hammill and fiancée, Sarah of Waynesboro, VA; six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Howard (Janyce) Pohlmann of Keystone and sister-in-law, Lil Pohlmann of Vinton; and many nephews and and nieces She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and a sister. Her family was the main focus of her life. She was known as a hard worker. She loved to decorate her home and tend to her yard and flowers. She will be sorely missed. Memorials can be made to the Keystone Nursing Car Center, the Alzheimers Assn., or to Hospice of Mercy Hospital. Phillips Funeral Home
