Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, Glen Ullin. Irene was born on the family farm 15 miles Southeast of Glen Ullin, on April 3, 1929, to Matt and Christine (Emter) Doll. She was the second oldest in a family of six children. She attended country school in a one room school house through the ninth grade, and helped out on the family farm. Irene married Pete Wetzel on July 5, 1948, at the Mandan Court House and they became parents to one daughter, Lynda. Irene was a homemaker for most of her life, going to work with Pete on construction jobs as a flagger. She also worked as a waitress at the Doll House Café for three years before it closed, at which time she retired. Irene enjoyed cooking and was known for her apple pies, strudel, homemade stuffing, and her canned pickles. She enjoyed watching westerns, butchering, and spending time with her family any chance she got. Irene also had a love for games, especially Uno and Aggravation, and you could be certain they would be played at family gatherings and holidays. Irene is survived by her husband, Pete; daughter, Lynda Kottre; two granddaughters, Tricia (Kerry) Fitterer and Amy Lively (Darin Rudland); five great-grandchildren, HaLeigh Kottre (Dustin Hibl), Destinee Fitterer, Heather Kottre (Tanner Erickson), Ashton Lively, and Landyn Fitterer all of Glen Ullin; and one sister, Dorene Wiege, Hebron, North Dakota. Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Christine Doll; three sisters, Reta Wetzel, Jane Becher, and Lolly Doll; one brother, Duane Doll; and son-in-law, Ivan Kottre.
