Read More	Athens Messenger - December 4, 2006 ATHENS - Irene Evans Roach, 84 of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Athens, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Born June 3, 1922, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Maybelle Tweedie Evans. She obtained a B.S. and M.S. from Ohio University. She taught in the Ohio University Zoology Department for three years and later became an administrator at OU retiring in 1984 as Director of Graduate Student Services. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and the OU Trustee's Academy, establishing an endowment for graduate students. She is survived by stepdaughter Diana (Ed) Ferguson of Arlington, Texas; a stepson, Dr. Bruce (Gay) Roach of Nacogdoches, Texas; eight stepgrandchildren, and 11 step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sara Roach (Herb) Evans of Athens. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lee S. Roach in 1977 and an aunt, Grace Tweedie. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at West Union Street Cemetery with the Rev. R. William Bill Carroll officiating.
