Her child and girlhood years were spent in the home of her parents, from which she attended the grade school in District No. 5 and advanced to Anamosa high school, where she graduated with honors. Read More	SOURCE:THE ANAMOSA EUREKA...SEPTEBMER13,1945....PAGE 1 MRS.WM OLTMANNS 1901-1945 Mrs. William (Grace Harriet Guilford) Oltmanns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Guilford (Batchelder) was born on June 16, 1901, in Cass township, Jones county, Iowa. Her child and girlhood years were spent in the home of her parents, from which she attended the grade school in District No. 5 and advanced to Anamosa high school, where she graduated with honors. She taught school in Jones county for three years. On December 6, 1921, she was married to William Oltmanns, with whom she lived in happy wedlock nearly two score and four years. They farmed south and then north of Anamosa until 1940 when they purchased a farm southwest of Anamosa which is still the home of her husband and children. Five children were born to this union. She was in good health until the fall of 1944 when medical aid became necessary. She under went an operation on March 27, 1945. She died on Tuesday, September 4, at 2:10 a.m., at the age of 44 years, 2 months and 19 days. She received her Bible instruction under the Rev. A. Matthias by whom she was confirmed and admitted to membership in the Lutheran church on August 11, 1935, and remained a member until her death. She is survived by her husband, William Oltmanns, one son, John, four daughters, Rachel Griffith, Wilma, Elda and Helen Oltmanns, her father, Charles Guilford, two brothers, Glen and Vernon Guilford, all of Anamosa; two sisters, Ruth Mettlin of Moline, IL, and Mrs. Victor Edwards of Cedar Rapids and many friends and neighbors. Services were held Thursday afternoon at St. Paul's American Lutheran church in Anamosa with the Rev. H. L. Buesing officiating.
