Description	:	Irene Harriet Maggert, 63, of Northome, MN, died peacefully after a 2 1/2 yr. struggle with cancer on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at her home in rural Northome with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Dora Lake Alliance Church in Dora Lake, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Irene was born on February 26, 1949 in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of Arie and Ida (Kleene) Vierhout. She attended schools in Melvin and Hartley, Iowa, graduating from Hartley High School in 1967. She then graduated from the Professional Business Institute in Minneapolis in 1968 as a Dental Assistant. She worked for Dr. Dittmer in Hull, Iowa until her marriage to Donald J. Groen in 1970. To their union was born Dan, Jeff, Marti and Kristi. Donald died in 1980. Irene then married Joel Maggert in 1982 in George, Iowa. Sarah was born to this union and also added Danielle, Kimberly, Todd, and Joelene. Irene worked driving school bus for Northome schools for many years, did custom upholstery for over 25 years, and helped own and operate the Northome Area News since 2008. Important things to Irene were God, family, grandchildren, playing piano, crafts, driving school bus and upholstery. She is survived by her husband, Joel Maggert of Northome; 8 children, Dan (Brenda) Maggert of Northome, Danielle (Dustin) Pearson of Virginia, Kim (Al) Narveson of North Carolina, Todd (Daniele) Maggert of Minneapolis, MN, Marti (Dusty) Waller of Northome, Kristi (Brian) Dreher of Northome, Joelene (Mark) Hettwer of North Dakota, and Sarah (Derek) Palmer of Brooklyn Center, MN; her brother, Bill (Charlotte) Vierhout of Sanborn, Iowa; her sister, Evelyn (John) Post of Sanborn, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Groen; her son, Jeff Groen Maggert; her parents; a brother Cornie Vierhout; and 2 miscarriages. (Cease Family Funeral Home)
