She attended Seattle Pacific College, where she met her future husband, Lawrence (Larry) Lozier. They were married on August 12, 1950, in Seattle. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2006.They moved to her current home in Big Lake in 1956 and spent many years building and remodeling the house and working on improvements to the property. Irene was a homemaker who raised four daughters, sewed clothes for her family, canned produce and gardened. She also loved to go "antiquing" and refinishing furniture. For a time she was employed with Stokely Van Camp in Mount Vernon as a bookkeeper.She was a member of Bethany Covenant Church of Mount Vernon.She is survived by her daughters Pamela Nomura and her husband Richard, of Burien; Heather Birchman and her husband Joel, of Olympia; Hillary Hightower and her husband Joe, of Burien; and Leanne Duke and her husband Dave, of Mount Vernon. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons; her sister, Esther Larson, and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah Duke.In lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested to a favorite charity of your choice.A memorial service will be held at Japanese Baptist Church, 160 Broadway in Seattle on January 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.Please share your thoughts and memories of Irene online at www.Legacy.com.
