Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at First Baptist Church in White with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitations will precede the service starting at 1:00 p.m. Eidsness Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Irene (Hulsebus) Franken was born August 2, 1925, to John “Jack” and Lena (Kruse) Hulsebus in rural White, SD. She has lived in South Dakota all her life. Irene grew up on a farm in rural Brookings County. She married Hank Franken on February 19, 1944. They lived on a farm northeast of White. Irene and Hank retired in 1978, and moved into White. She entered the White Healthcare Center in October 2011. Irene was a member of First Baptist Church in White. She was making cakes, mending, and baking right up until the time she entered White Care Center. Irene is lovely remembered by her daughter, Eunice (Clarence) Simmons of White; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Moe, of Brookings; a brother, Johnny Hulsebus, of Brookings; and sister-in-law, Ruth Hulsebus of Brookings. She was preceded in death by husband, Henry; daughter, Judy; and brother, Elmer.
