Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone beside her husband on what would have been their 70th wedding anniversary. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home located at Fifth & Story Streets in Boone from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present to greet friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to the service time at 10:30 a.m. Irene was born on April 15, 1923 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis Oliver and Laura Alma (Newcomb) Sudderberg. She was the 4th oldest of 10 children. On January 4, 1942, Irene was married to Virgil Francis Moeller at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Harrison Township, Northeast Boone County, Iowa. The couple lived on the family Century Farm until 2002 when they moved to Boone, adjacent to the Cedar Pointe Golf Course. Irene was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church for most of her life. She was baptized on Easter of 1931, and confirmed on April 26, 1942. Irene was active in the church all of her life including singing in choir. She became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone upon moving to town from the farm. Irene and her husband Virgil enjoyed going on cruises together and traveling. Irene enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing with her husband. She enjoyed music since her childhood when she listened to her father play the baritone in the South Marion Band. Irene had her own special talents including playing piano, organ and accordion by ear, without music training or reading music. She would sing to her family and friends while she played. Irene also enjoyed growing plants and flowers in her home and yard throughout the years. Irene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband on December 16, 2011; her four brothers, Howard, Glenn, Donald and Kenny; four of her sisters, Opal Casner, Betty Jean Parkin, Shirley Germer and Violet Hatch. Surviving Irene are her four children, Dale Virgil Moeller and wife Doris of Wadsworth, Illinois; LaVonne Carol Pearson and husband Jim of Nevada, Iowa; Larry Wayne Moeller and wife Janet of Boone, Iowa; Ronald Kevin Moeller and wife Karen of Grayslake, Illinois; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; her sister, Diann Sundall and husband Kenneth of Boone, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Trinity Lutheran Church in memory of Irene Inza Moeller. Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home located at Fifth & Story Streets in Boone is in charge of the arrangements.
