Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Linton, with Rev. Gary Benz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Myers Funeral Home, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Irene was born March 12, 1925 in Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Glass) Scherr. They lived on a farm near Strasburg and she attended school in Strasburg. Irene married Philip J. Lipp on October 2, 1945 in Underwood, ND. Following their marriage, they lived in Underwood and Tappen until finally settling in Linton in 1959. Together they raised five children. Irene was a creative artist in crocheting, embroidering, sewing and needlework. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and also helped with Meals on Wheels. Irene will always be remembered as a sweet, easygoing, hardworking, friendly, selfless person. She touched so many lives with her gentle kindness. She never spoke a harsh word. She will be missed very greatly by her family and friends. “We all love you very much, Irene!” Irene is survived by four sons and one daughter-in-law: Ronald and Vyonne Lipp of Linton, ND, Lester Lipp of Milwaukee, WI, Darrell Lipp of Bismarck, ND and Evan Lipp of Fargo, ND; one daughter and son-in-law: Marlene and Waylon Black of Olympia, WA; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren: four brothers and sisters-in-law: Alvin and Dorie Scherr of Detroit, MI, Leo and Pauline Scherr of Cudahy, WI, Eddie and Phenny Scherr of Rapid City, SD and Alois and Nancy Scherr of Gordon, NE; and one sister and brother-in-law: Sylvia and Arthur Rivers of Milwaukee, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Tony, Eugene, John, Charles and Raymond and one sister, Rose Ternes. Source: Myers Funeral Home
