Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Lector will be Dr. Steve Kraus. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Monday followed by a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Monday by Holy Spirit Parish. Visitation will resume at 9 A.M. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Church until the time of the funeral mass. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church for the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Irene Marie Kraus was born on December 30, 1922, at Templeton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Feilmeier) Irlmeier. She spent her younger years in the Templeton community and attended Sacred Heart School. Irene and Alfred Kraus were united in marriage on November 27, 1945, at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. Irene and Al farmed for six years near Lidderdale and in 1951 moved to their family farm one mile north of Maple River where they farmed and raised their family. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Ladies Guild and a long time member of St. Francis Parish at Maple River. Irene enjoyed baking pies, sewing, canning, gardening, playing cards, going to the casino, polka dancing, traveling and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Irene is survived by her beloved husband, Alfred Kraus of Maple River; her children, Bev (Mark) Vereb of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tom (Chrissy) Kraus of LaCrosse, Wisc., Alan (Cindy) Kraus of Carroll, Dan Kraus of Maple River, and Karla (K.R.) Buck of Denison; nine grandchildren, Robyn (Eric) Gilliland, Melanie “Cubby” Promes, Jennifer Kraus, Jake Kraus, Juliana (Bryon) Kraus-Schuster, Chris (Jen) Kraus, Michaela (Chris) Neppel, Holly Buck, and Casey Buck; ten great grandchildren, Jessica, Chelsea, Nathan, Matthew, Kelsea, Keyton, Briana, Kylee, Abby, and Michael; her brother, Merlin (Anna Mae) Irlmeier of Templeton; and by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Irlmeier of Santa Barbara, Calif., Toni Irlmeier of Carroll, Kathleen Irlmeier of Audubon, Louise Owens of Carroll, Merlin and Mary Lou Kraus of Anita, and Bob and Kathy Kraus of Carroll. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Molly Ann Kraus; seven brothers, Joe “Stoogie” Irlmeier, Alex Irlmeier, Leo Irlmeier, Leonard Irlmeier, Wilfred “Bud” Irlmeier, Clete Irlmeier and Donald Irlmeier; and by three sisters, Ann Irlbeck, Dorothy Crowdes and Jean Brosnahan.
