Description	:	Mrs. Irene Mills, 85, my mother, has finally won the race and has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 31, 2022. Irene was born on June 20th, 1936 in Pitt County. She graduated from Chicod High School in 1954. She had a passion for teaching others about Jesus and His Word. Read More	Mrs. Irene Mills, 85, my mother, has finally won the race and has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 31, 2022. Irene was born on June 20th, 1936 in Pitt County. She graduated from Chicod High School in 1954. She had a passion for teaching others about Jesus and His Word. She was a Sunday School teacher for almost 70 years, starting at age 15 at Hopewell Pentecostal Church at Blackjack, then Washington First Pentecostal Church, then as a humble member of the Washington Assembly of God Church for the past 45 years. In addition to her parents, Barney Mills and Ruth Williams Mills, Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Ottis Mills. She was also preceded in death by brothers Howard, Barney J and Raymond Mills and sisters, Hazel Mills Harris and Patsy Mills Neal. She is survived by one sister who has shown such love and support over the last few years. She is survived by one son and his wife; one granddaughter; and two great grandsons. She was affectionately known as Granny. There are not enough words to ever express the love she had not only for family, but for others. She will be greatly missed, but our joy is knowing she loved God and was one of His humble servants. Special gratitude and love is given to Marjrie. Over the past year Marjrie has faithfully given of herself to help give care and love to our Mother. The lifetime bond they had grew so much stronger this past year and we can never express the gratitude and love that I have for Marjrie. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to the Washington Assembly of God Youth Ministry. Visitation will be Monday April 4th at 1:00pm preceding the funeral at 2:00pm at the Washington Assembly of God Church in Washington, NC. Entombment will immediately follow by Wilkerson Funeral Home at Pinewood Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by Washington Assembly of God Pastor, Reverend W. Kyle Miller, and also by Irene's nephews.
