Read More	Irene Norma Roth was born July 3, 1911, on a farm north of Milford, Nebraska to John and Mattie (Erb) Schweitzer, the youngest of nine children and went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 7 months and 11 days. As a young girl, Irene attended Milford Public Schools, accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Milford Mennonite Church on October 25, 1925. She worked for the Telephone Company and was the "central" operator for the Milford telephone system. On December 21, 1933, Irene was united in marriage to Roy Roth at her sister's home and to this union four sons and two daughters were born. Together they made their home southwest of Milford where she was a busy mother, farm wife and helper. Irene loved gardening and raised beautiful flowers. She always exhibited her very strong faith and prayer life; praying each morning for her five families. Irene was gifted at putting her spiritual thoughts into writing. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In early years she attended their activities, whenever possible. You could always call Mother and she would help you in whatever way she could. Irene was a caring, wise and patient person and was an encourager and mentor to her many friends. She enjoyed visiting and could engage in conversation with anyone. In her spare time, she enjoyed many things; spending time at the Senior Center, quilting, and reading Christian fiction. Irene was also an excellent seamstress, artist and enjoyed ceramics. She was very creative and painted both on canvas and decorating walls at home. She was a current member of the Bellwood Mennonite Church and previously was a member of Milford Mennonite Church. Irene loved to sing, was a member of the choir and enjoyed the Mennonite Women's Sewing group. Survivors include her children and spouses, LeRoy and Betty Roth, Warwick, RI, James and Twila Roth, Fairbury, Janice and Vesper Oswald, St. Joseph, MO, Terry and Bobbi Roth, Tucson, AZ, Verlyn and Gerry Dunlap, Milford, 11 grandchildren and spouses, David and Cheryl Roth, Coventry, RI, Todd Roth, Fairbury, Trudy and Moyle Fritz, Wellington, FL, Jim and Julie Oswald, Jay and Heather Oswald, all of St. Joseph, MO, Rich and Torrie Oswald, Greeley, CO, Randy and Mary Jo Roth, Seward, Scott Adams, St. Joseph, MO, Sherri and John Broughton, Tucson, AZ, Greg and Jessica Dunlap, Milford, and Jennifer and Mark Hanson, Valdez, AK, 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy in 1998; son, Richard in 1969, grandson, Steven Adams, brothers, Lee, Peter, John and Harry Schweitzer, sisters, Malinda Birky, Sadie Hostetler, Alice Saltzman and Katie Kremer. Funeral Services were held Monday, February 18, 2008, at Bellwood Mennonite Church, with Pastor David Miller officiating. Interment is in Milford Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Friends of the Milford Senior Center, Bellwood Mennonite Church or to HoriSun Hospice.
