Description	:	NEW BRAUNFELS, TX - Irene Ramona (Pedersen) Sievers was born near Elk Horn, IA on July 14, 1916. Her parents were James Peter and Lizzie (Jepsen) Pedersen. She was one of seven children in her family. She attended country school. Irene married Vernon R. Sievers on March 25, 1936 and to this union one son, Richard, was born. In 1984, she and Vernon... Read More	NEW BRAUNFELS, TX - Irene Ramona (Pedersen) Sievers was born near Elk Horn, IA on July 14, 1916. Her parents were James Peter and Lizzie (Jepsen) Pedersen. She was one of seven children in her family. She attended country school. Irene married Vernon R. Sievers on March 25, 1936 and to this union one son, Richard, was born. Throughout he lifetime she was a stay-at-home mother and a housewife to Vernon while he was a farmer and carpenter in various communities including Walnut, Atlantic, Council Bluffs, IA and Bellevue and Papillion, NE. In 1984, she and Vernon retired and moved to New Braunfels, TX to be closer to their son. Vernon died on February 12, 2008. Irene died on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Trisun Care Center Windcrest in San Antonio, TX. She had attained the age of ninety one years, ten months and sixteen days. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost seventy two years, Vernon; two sisters: Thelma Namanny and Beulah Kadel; one brother, Leroy; and a great granddaughter, Misty. She is survived by her son, Richard Sievers and his wife Shirley of New Braunfels, TX; four grandchildren: Richard and his wife Debi of Parker, CO, Scott and his wife Jennifer of Centennial, CO, Mark and his wife Caroline of Missouri City, TX and Maria and her husband Dana Somoskey of San Marcos, TX; five great grandchildren: Jake and Brittney of Parker, CO, Sarah of Centennial, CO, Lucas of Houston, TX and Marshall of San Marcos, TX; two sisters: Mabel and her husband Donald Schnitker and Darlene, all of Council Bluffs, IA; one brother, Glen Pedersen and his wife Leona of Storm Lake, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the funeral service following was held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca. Wayne Paulsen officiated at the service and burial was in Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut, IA. Those serving as casket bearers were Larry Lapel, Steve Pedersen, Ken Schnitker, Dennis Sievers, Steven Sievers and Robert Campbell.
