Description	:	Iris Mae Jones was born June 12, 1907 on the Frank Jones' ranch located near the mining hamlet of Ruby in the Spring Coulee area of Okanogan County, Washington. She was the daughter of Frank and Cena (Morris) Jones. She attended the Clover School in Spring Coulee for part of her education. Part of the second and third grades she attended the Okanogan schools as she stayed with her grandmother and aunt Edna Jones. She was ill and needed a doctor's care. Read More	Iris Mae Jones was born June 12, 1907 on the Frank Jones' ranch located near the mining hamlet of Ruby in the Spring Coulee area of Okanogan County, Washington. She was the daughter of Frank and Cena (Morris) Jones. She attended the Clover School in Spring Coulee for part of her education. Part of the second and third grades she attended the Okanogan schools as she stayed with her grandmother and aunt Edna Jones. She was ill and needed a doctor's care. In the seventh and eighth grade she stayed with Lewis and Edna (Jones) St John, across Salmon Creek from her grandmother's home in Okanogan. Without doctor's attention, she would need an operation. Her sophomore year she attended Wenatchee High School. By 1923 her grandmother Sarah Ann Jones had sold her home and moved into the home of Lewis and Edna due to failing health. Iris returned to Okanogan and graduated from Okanogan High School in 1925, the same year as her brother Edward. She met Albert Christianson as a classmate in OHS. After school, she worked for the Dodge garage owner. On May 15, 1927 she married Albert in Chelan, Washington. He worked at a lookout station conducted by the U S Forest Service which was located above the town of Twisp. It was through him that his father-in-law Frank Jones got a job with the forest service. The couple had one child: Doris Ilene who was born in Chelan, Washington on August 29, 1928. Albert was transferred to the Port Angeles division of the forest service. During World War II he worked for the Rainier mill and then worked for Richfield Oil Company for sixteen years. The couple retired at Port Angeles. Living nearby was Iris' mother Cena, and her sister Doris. After Albert died, Iris remained in Port Angeles. In the 1980s, Iris' health deteriorated and seldom left her home. She died on June 3, 1991 and is buried at the Mount Angeles Memorial Park located in Port Angeles, Clallam County, Washington.
