Description	:	Irma A. Donohue, 82, of Sioux City died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006 at a Sioux City hospital with her children and sisters by her side. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Irma A. Donohue was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Sioux City, the daughter of Mathias and Mamie (Monson) Dunn. She attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1941. She attended NBT Business School. She married Kenneth F. Donohue Sr. on May 28, 1949, in Sioux City. He died Jan. 11, 2001, in Sioux City. Irma's life revolved around love of family across generations. Kenneth and Irma dedicated many years to the care of their mothers. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the focus of her love. With her family scattered across the country and beyond, Irma attended baptisms, graduations, weddings and other important events in their lives. Her travels included extended visits in California with her sisters. Prior to her marriage, Irma was employed in the office of Dr. Eidsel in Sioux City. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Business Sorority. She was a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center and Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center. She coordinated numerous neighborhood fundraising efforts for local and national organizations. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. While her children attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Bishop Heelan High School, she was actively involved in the Blessed Sacrament Confraternity, St. Gerard Circle and the Carmel Guild. She showed deep devotion to her Catholic faith and a special love of the Blessed Virgin Mary, evidenced by daily Mass and presence at holy hours throughout the diocese each week. Irma touched many lives through her faith and her sincere love of people. Survivors include her eight children, Mary Uhl and her husband, Gary, of Sioux City; Kenneth Donohue Jr. of Maricopa, Ariz., Dr. J. Michael Donohue and his wife, Kathy, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Terry Wolter and her husband, Bob, of San Diego, Calif., Patrick Donohue of Sausalito, Calif., Cindy Greer and her husband, J.P., of Spencer, Iowa, Rita Post and her husband, Corky, of Canyon Lake, Calif., and Mark Donohue of Sioux City; 20 grandchildren, Jeremy Uhl and his wife, Jenny, Ted Uhl, Ben Uhl and his wife, Sarah, Emily Dore and her husband, Gareth, Natalie Uhl, Matt, Nick and Michelle Donohue, Jessie, Mike and Nick Donohue, Ginny, Robby and John Wolter, Charlie, Brett and John Greer, and Neal, Bradley and Ashley Post; four great-great-grandchildren, Maddie and Zach Uhl, Drew Uhl and Davis Dore; and three sisters, Shirley Hamilton of Larkspur, Calif., Dottie Smith and her husband, Robert, of Modesto, Calif., and Genie Bernhard of Larkspur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and her parents. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Memorials may be directed in Irma's name to Washburn Oncology and Palliative Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the Carmelite Monastery.
