Description	:	Irma Godfrey, 79, of Alton died Tuesday in a hospital in Orange City after a sudden illness. Services were at 10 a.m. Friday in the United Presbyterian Church in Alton. The Rev. Henry Eggink officiated. Burial was in the Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton. Family visitation was from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Van Gelder Funeral Home at Orange City. Mrs. Godfrey, the former Irma Frankenstein, was born Sept. 25, 1903, at Withee, Wis. and was a graduate of Meyer School of Music in Milwaukee, Wis. She married Alex J. Kemper in 1932 in Milwaukee. The Rev. Henry Eggink officiated. Burial was in the Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton. Family visitation was from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Van Gelder Funeral Home at Orange City. Mrs. Godfrey, the former Irma Frankenstein, was born Sept. 25, 1903, at Withee, Wis. and was a graduate of Meyer School of Music in Milwaukee, Wis. She married Alex J. Kemper in 1932 in Milwaukee. They came to Alton in 1943. He died Dec. 24, 1962. She married Chad Godfrey March 2, 1971. He died in February of 1982. She taught piano, organ, accordion and voice for 40 years. Prior to that she worked as a professional musician. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, lifelong member of the American Federation of Musicians and The American Accordionist Association, past grand organist for the Order of Eastern Star of Iowa and past matron of Century Chapter 298 of Orange City. She was active in the Senior Citizens group and local civic organizations. A memorial has been established in her name with any organization for the blind. Survivors include one son, Alex C. Kaempfer of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
