Description	:	Irma J. Dorothy, age 87, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Mapleton, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin. She was born in Mapleton, Iowa, in 1913 and attended school in Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School. After graduation, she moved to Rockford, Illinois in 1936 where she was a legal secretary until her retirement in 1978. Dorothy, age 87, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Mapleton, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin. She was born in Mapleton, Iowa, in 1913 and attended school in Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School. After graduation, she moved to Rockford, Illinois in 1936 where she was a legal secretary until her retirement in 1978. Soon after that she moved to Artesia, Mexico, to assist in any way she could at Artesia Christian College which existed at that time. She was an office secretary, secretarial science instructor, college choir accompanist, college hostress and also helped in the cafteria or any place where there was a need. She loved every minute of it. While living there, she required heart surgery, so in 1989 she moved to Joplin, Missouri to live closer to family members. She was much loved and admired by the Spring Valley Village residents and staff, and also, at the church where she was active until health problems restricted her activities. Irma had traveled extensively to other parts of the world, especially to places connected with missions. She spent a month in Indonesia with John and Dorothy Harper while they were serving as missionaries there in the 1970's. She was a talented and gifted Christian lady who lived a beautiful,giving, caring life and will be sorely missed by the many, many lives she touched. Survivors include five nieces, Dorothy L Harper of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Doris Harding of Whiting, Iowa, Joan Kraft of East Moline, Illinois, Donnabelle Alvano of Sioux City, Iowa and Mary Ann Harding of East Moline, Illinois; one nephew, Ronald Jay Jordan of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; six great-nieces and nine great-nephews; numerous great-great nieces and nephews; and cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Blanche Jordan in 1993; the spouses of her five nieces; and one great-niece and one great-nephew. Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2000, at Spring River Christian Village Chapel in Joplin Missouri, with officiants Chet Shaw, Minister and Sherman Nichols, Minister. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2000, at St Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa, with Pastor Donald R Ludwick officiating.
