She was a homemaker, an avid quilter, member of Christian Mothers and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Besides her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Martin H. Schindler. She is survived by four sons, Martin "PeeWee", Leon, Calvin and James Schindler; seven daughters, Martha Fessell, Regina Philpot, Mary Wolz, Judy Kruer, Dottie Thomas, Erma Walter and Liz Timperman; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and noon-8 p.m. Wednesday at Generations Funeral Home, 33069 Ballard Lane,New Albany. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
