He was born on September 2, 1916, at Bostwick (Nuckolls County), Nebraska. In 1934 he graduated from Superior High School. He married Florene Joyce Swanson on August 7, 1942, at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Francis, Kansas. He took two years of Business College before working for Ford Tractor Division as a District Manager in Superior, NE in 1948, transferring in 1951 to Norfolk, NE before moving to Beatrice in 1956. He retired in 1973. He worked for Sargent's Inc. from 1973 to 1976; then worked for Roehr Machinery Inc. from 1976 to 1981. He was a resident of the Paddock Kensington from July 2001 to the present. He had been involved with the cub scouts as an assistant scout master. Irvin was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice and Hidden Acres Golf Course where he was on the Board of Directors for 20 years. He enjoyed golf, being out in his yard, woodworking making many different projects, and going to coffee with the guys at Country Cookin Café. Survivors: sons, Allen Jensen of Beatrice, NE, Merlin Jensen of Owassa, OK; grandson, Todd Jensen and wife, Mindi, of Beatrice, NE; great granddaughter, Bryce Jensen of Beatrice, NE; sister, Arlena Reese of San Jose, CA; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death: parents, Julius and Carolina (Christensen) Jensen; wife, Florene Joyce (Swanson) Jensen (October 20, 1996); 1 brother, Tony Jensen; 4 sisters, Ann Nelson, Gerta Coleman, Elna Day, Elvera Bramwell. Funeral: 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 19, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice, Nebraska. Officiating: Pastor Douglas Irmer. Family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. in church basement. Burial: Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice, Nebraska. Visitation: Harman-Wright Mortuary on Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.
