Description	:	Irvin Gentrup, age 80, of Beemer, Nebraska passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 peacefully at his home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and a source of joy and laughter for all who knew him, with a pure and simple respect for God and love of family. Read More	Irvin Gentrup, age 80, of Beemer, Nebraska passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 peacefully at his home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. We will celebrate his life on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner. First visitation to be held Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 3-8 p.m. with vigil at 7 p.m. at the church. Second visitation to be held prior to the service from 9-10:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made for pancreatic research at the Nancy Armitage Professorship, c/o Office of the Chancellor, 5000 Wittson Hall UNMC, Omaha, NE 68197. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is handling the arrangements for the family. He was born on February 23, 1937 on a farm near Beemer to Anton and Susan (Aschoff) Gentrup, the third child of ten. He and his brother, Ed, traveled to Wisconsin for work where he met his bride, Doris Schueller in Milwaukee, WI. They married in August 1959 then moved to Nebraska where he farmed north of Wisner for more than 50 years, worked at Waldbaum’s, and maintained Grant township’s roads for more than 20 years. He and Doris retired to Beemer in 2015. He was a long-time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner serving as a Eucharistic Minister and in the Knights of Columbus as a member and officer, including Grand Knight. He lives on through his wife, Doris (Schueller) Gentrup, their seven children, and grandchildren: Christine (Bill) Maerling and children [Shelby; John (Courtney); Joshua]; Jim (Janee) Gentrup and children [Lindsay (Christopher); Nate; Jessi; Tom]; Joe Gentrup [Vicki Bishop] and son [Ryan]; Cathy (Wayne) Heyen and children [Aaron, Hannah, Leah]; Cynthia (Randy) Schultz and daughter [Madison]; Regina (Anthony) Byars and daughter [Eva]; Michele (Gary) LaBreck and sons [Tyler & Drew]. He also lives on through his five brothers and two sisters, Anton (Esther) Gentrup, Bernice (Len) Wadas, Ed (Dot) Gentrup, Vic Gentrup, Denis (Marilyn) Gentrup, Florence (Larry) Ridder, Kenny Gentrup and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
