Description	:	Irvin O. Coates was born to John and Mabel Buck Coates near Exeter, on March 23, 1907, the oldest of three children. He passed away at the Bethesda Care Center in Exeter, on July 25, 1993, at the age of 86 years. Irvin attended country schools and graduated from the Exeter High School with the Class of 1926. He passed away at the Bethesda Care Center in Exeter, on July 25, 1993, at the age of 86 years. Irvin attended country schools and graduated from the Exeter High School with the Class of 1926. He was married to Emma Miller on October 25, 1938, at the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter, where he has been a faithful member since that time. He and Emma were privileged in 1988 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family. His chosen occupation was that of a farmer and he spent his life working on the farm. In February of 1984, he suffered a severe stroke that resulted in him being confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. For four years following his stroke, his wife Emma cared for him at home. He then entered Bethesda Care Center for five more years. Throughout his ordeal, Irvin, was a most patient man who never complained about his problems. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Mary Louise Retheford, who died October 17, 1960. He leaves his loving wife, Emma, who will miss him very much; one brother, Ralph Coates of Exeter; one nephew, John Retheford and family of Crete; many other relatives, nieces and nephews. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, July 27, 1993, at the Farmer Funeral Home in Exeter. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 1993 from the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter with Father Glaves officiating. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery.
