Read More	Irvin Swinney was born June 17, 1849, in Davis County, Iowa and died at his home in Floris, November 16, 1907, aged 58 years, 4 months and 20 days. He was married to Miss Emma Davis, December 24, 1876, united with the Christian Church at Floris in 1878 and remained a faithful member until his death. He was a useful and widely respected citizen and an unusually large crowd of people were present at the funeral to pay tribute of respect to his memory. He leaves to mourn their loss his devoted wife in whom he safely confided and trusted, who shared with him the joys and sorrows incident to an active and strenuous life; an only son, who has been a comfort and stay in his declining health, and in whose future life his own life and hopes shall be completed; his aged mother, whose tender and loving heart would be broken indeed were it not for the faith and hope of the blessed gospel of the son of God. Four brothers, James A. and Harvey E. of Floris, Boone and Dr. Josiah of Bloomfield, whose unbroken friendship and brotherly love brings to memory the saying that is written "behold how good and pleasant it is for the brethern to dwell together in unity" Besides these a large number of relatives and friends whose friendship and confidence he enjoyed. The funeral was held at the Christian church in Floris November 17, conducted by D.W. Hastings and E.A. Hastings, using for the text "To live in Christ, to die is gain" and the interment was at the IOOF cemetery. He lived a clean and upright life, a christian true and faithful. He fought the good fight, kept the faith and henchforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness.
