Description	:	Per register of deeds office/records book 29 located at the Coffey County Courthouse visited by Nancy Hitchcock Clewell (4th great niece) in June 2016 and the following was found for Northeast Coffey County land: Patent #3690 from the United States to Isaac Davidson and filed 17 Feb 1882 for the northeast quarter of Section 9 in Township 19 of Range 17 containing 160 acres. - Deed Book 29, Pages 387 and 388 *There is an annexed addition to the town of Agricola named "Davidson's Additon" filed with the county by Isaac Davidson. The main street coming in to Agricola from Old Highway 50 is named in his honor "Davidson Street." -------------------------- Isaac Davidson was born 01 Oct 1838 in Virginia; son of Thomas "Tom" B. and Rebecca (Peer) Davidson. Isaac was united in marriage 07 Feb 1866 in Columbus, Ohio with Mary C. Rumsey; daughter of Lewis J. and Nancy (Turner) Rumsey. Isaac and Mary were the parents of ten children: 1. Charles Sylvester born 1866 married Margaret "Maggie" L. Spurgeon 2. Lilly born 1868 married John Thomas Thoroman 3. Lucy Jane (1871-1907) 4. Laura May born 1874 married C.A. Scott 5. Joseph Robert born 1876 married Ethel F. Chrisman 6. Wade Herbert (1878-1904) married Anna Phoebe Dunlap 7. Harvey Benton born 1880 married (#1) Martha Ann Holman and (#2) Geneva I. 8. Hyatt James born 1883 married Mary Lucy McDowell 9. Anna Elizabeth born 1885 married Samuel Ephriam Metheney 10. Harlan born 1888 married Vera S. Schermerhorn Isaac passed away 06 Feb 1917 in Coffey County, Kansas at the age of 78 years. He was laid to rest in Pleasant View Cemetery in Agricola, Coffey County, Kansas. Mary passed away 09 Aug 1933 in Coffey County, Kansas at the age of 88 years. She was laid to rest in Pleasant View Cemetery with Isaac. ------------------------- Obit ISAAC DAVIDSON DIES AT HALLS SUMMIT Halls Summit---Isaac Davidson was born in Virginia, October 1, 1838, and died at his home in Halls Summit, February 6, 1917, aged 77 years, 4 months, and 4 days. He moved to Ohio in 1843 and to Missouri in 1866. In 1870, he came to Agricola, Kansas which was his home until about 15 years ago, when he moved to Halls Summit. He has lived there ever since, with the exception of one year in Waverly. Fifty-one years ago Wednesday, February 7, 1866, he was married in Columbus, Ohio, to Mary C. Rumsey. For more than half a century, she has been his faithful loving companion. She looks forward to a happy meeting in _an, of Halls Summit. Ten children came to bless this union. They are: Charles S., of Baldwin City, Kansas; Lilly Thoroman of Ottawa, Kansas; Lucy, who died in 1907; Laura, wife of State Forester Chas. A. Scott, who died in 1903; Joseph R., of Pawhuska, Okla., Wade who died in 1904, leaving a wife and one son, Francis; Harvey B., of Bucklin, Kansas; Hyatt J. of Halls Summit; Anna E. Metheney of Agricola, Kansas; and Harlan. In 1876, he united with the Presbyterian Church, at Agricola. When that church disbanded, about 20 years ago, he united with the Methodist Church, at Agricola. About 5 years ago he moved his membership to the Halls Summit Methodist Church. He died in the triumph of a Christian faith. Besides his wife and 7 children he leaves to mourn his loss, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Homire of Melvern, Kansas; one brother, Benton Davidson of Yreka, Calif.; 18 grand children; and ? great- grand children. He was respected by all who knew him, for his many sterling qualities. The funeral services were held at the home, Wednesday, February 7, at 12:30 p.m. conducted by his pastor, Rev.
